We were fortunate that we have made it over 5 years without any visits to the ER for Elyse. Well, that run ended on monday, when we realized that the back of her earring actually was totallly inside her earlobe and we were not sure how it could be removed. The doctor was shocked that the earring back had totally dissappeared, but then went to work. He shot up her ear with Lydacane (probably spelled totally wrong...) and was amazed that she only said "ouch" a few times without any tears. He then opened up the front earring hole with tweezers and "searched" for the earring back. Finally he got hold of it, and pulled it out, and we were done. We were even happier to find out that it did not appear to be infected, so after a small dose of antibiotics, we were outta there. Elyse was such a trooper... she really is our "tough bunny"!!
Elyse waiting for the doctor to come into the room
All that she has to show from her visit is her hospital bracelet and a steri-strip!!
We are now going to leave the idea of putting in new earrings up to her, when she is ready!
