Send in the Clowns!

And the elephants, and trampoline artists, and the trapeze act!! If you couldn't guess, we took the girls to their first trip to the circus. The "Grestest Show on Earth" (Barnum and Bailey) was performing at the Wachovia Center in Philadelphia and it was a GREAT time had by all!! Grandmom Reedell joined us for the day. We were schedule to go on friday, but due to the latest snow storm, the show was cancelled, so we had the option to go over the weekend. So, we went on saturday morning and the girls had a blast!! They loved watching the elephants "dancing", the trapeze artsists fly through the air... and of course they were enthralled with the trampoline troop. It's MUCH different that any of the circus' I've seen over the years, much more like Cirque d'solie than the "traditional" circus... but it was fantastic. On our way out they asked, can we go see the circus again... so I guess it recieved a thumbs up from the Reedell Chicks!!

Ice Ice Baby....

We had discussed a few times going ice skating with the girls... but had never gone. Philadelphia has a GREAT rink, called the River Rink on the Delaware River at Penn's Landing. Between having NOTHING to do this weekend (which is totally rare in the Reedell household) and the weather being BEAUTIFUL (mid 40's and bright sunshine), we figured today was the "perfect" ice skating day! So, off we went. The girls put their skates on, and yes, they actually had a toddler size 8 or Elyse... sooo cute. The girls have been roller skating or roller blading a few times, so they had the "idea" but being on ice is a totally different monster. Amazingly, they BOTH did GREAT immediately. Angela took off and was flying around the ice faster than most larger children. If I had a dollar for each time a parent asked "how old is she and does she take lessons?", I'd be "rich" by now. They almost fell over when I said "she's 4.5 years old and this is her first time on ice skates"... Then I'd say "and that' my 2.5 year old over there, and their chins would almost hit the ground! Elyse was skating ALL by herself and doing great. Of course there were several spills... and a few tears... but they skated until the very end of the session and asked "when can we go again"... so guess we know they really do like ice skating too!!! Enjoy the pictures!!!

Looking like a Winter Wonderland!

Well, the groundhog was RIGHT when he predicted "6 more weeks of winter"! We still had over a foot of snow on the ground from the weekend storm, a bunch of it melted with our nice warm sun over the past few days. And then it started snowing around 7pm last night (I was out running so I know it started then...). Woke up to around 8-10 inches of new snow outside this morning, then it changed to sleet, and now it looks like a blizzard. It's GREAT packing snow, so we had the opporutnity to build a "snow family"... per the girls' request!! They had a blast doing it... then sledding was FABULOUS on our driveway, and of course the obligatory snowball fights!!! So, hope you have a fantastic family day in the snow... we sure are!!!

Snowtime fun at Grandmom Reedells!

"This backyard hasn't seen this much action in years" was said several times by grandmom yesterday!! We went to visit grandmom and luckily I thought to take the girls' snow stuff. They were sooo excited to play in "not too deep snow"... since we got ALOT more and it's tough to walk in snow that's way past your knees (or at least Elyse's). But everyone got bundled up, grandmom got her baking pans (to be used for sleds) and off they went. It was soooo much fun seeing all those little (and a few big ones) footprints ALL over the yard - and best of all - it was GREAT to see grandmom having sooo much fun in the snow!!! So, thanks for a great day!!!

And yet, even MORE snow!

This season in the area has had the second highest snowfall in history!! We got a BIG nor'easter in december (which is highly uncommon from what they said), then another one this past weekend, and now we are in the path of another one this coming week. Philadelphia has had around 56" of snow this year.... which is incredible!!

I LOVE snow... but I think I'm kind of getting tired of it... so mother nature, thanks for the beautiful winter scenes... but I'm now looking forward to being able to find my backyard!!!!
